Laura's Cave

Laura's Cave, the most recently discovered lens cave, has only been dove three times. A fairly small cave, it exhibits a fragility of formations that is not seen in nearby caves. The stalactites & stalagmites both appear to have been chemically attacked over the years, resulting in particularly brittle & weak specimens. Many columns in this group show a horizontal fissure indicating possible tensile loading stresses of the flowstone during inflooding. The entrance pond is small, showing about two to three meters diameter in mangrove roots.
